1967 BKPE ARCHETYPE CORVETTE 427 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:

Is the 1967 Archetype Corvette 427 a restored Corvette or a brand new vehicle?

A:

Aside from a handful of parts, which are only available as quality used parts, the 1967 BKPE Archetype Corvette 427 is a brand new automobile. It is partly for this reason, and partly because of the quality of our builds, that we can offer the only bumper-to-bumper warranty in the business.

Q:

Why do you use replacement bodies instead of original 1967 Corvette bodies?

A:

Simply put, it is cost, time and quality. Original 1967 Corvette bodies are over 45 years old, which means four decades of fatigue, corrosion and abuse. To restore such a body is time consuming and expensive, needlessly delaying delivery of our vehicles to our customers and increasing the price of our product. In addition, replacement bodies are made with modern techniques and quality controls. Comparing an original body to a replacement body makes it clear that the replacement body offers a superior platform from which we build all of our Corvettes.

Q:

Can I order my Archetype 427 in colors other than what was originally available in 1967?

A:

Unfortunately, no. In the Archetype, we set out to recreate a Corvette that was identical to the original through and through. This necessarily means that we are limited in our color pallet.

Q:

May I have you modify the Archetype 427 beyond its BKPE specifications?

A:

While we do offer 17 options to equip your Archetype as you see fit, we do not allow our customers to further modify the vehicle as that would defeat the purpose of producing a replica vehicle. However, if you desire a vehicle that is faithful on the outside and inside to the original, but has more performance, we encourage you to check out the C2 BKPE Corvette Scimitar-Stage I.

Q:

Are there any differences between a factory 427 the Archetype 427?

A:

Yes, in two significant respects. It would be impossible to recreate all of the part number stampings and date codes that would be found on the parts of a factory 427. Thus, to a professional authenticator, there will be slight cosmetic differences that will distinguish the BKPE vehicle from its factory counterpart.

In addition, we did not concern ourselves with copying the original when it came to parts that would not be visible to the client. Thus, for example, we use Electric-Life power window motors instead of OE motors as they are hidden behind the door panels and are more reliable. For another example, the engine internals for the 427 are unseen and thus not necessarily identical to their factory counterparts. However, in all cases where we used non-OE-style parts, we used a higher quality than the factory reproduction.

Q:

Can I get you to build me an Archetype based on either a 1963 to 1966 Corvette?

A:

Absolutely, though there may be an up-charge for the additional research and development necessary to build such a vehicle. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order your Archetype in a year other than a 1967.

Q:

If I order the RPO L88 option, will I be able to run it on street gasoline?

A:

No. The factory L88 was a very high compression motor that will not run on today’s street gasoline. Instead, the client will have to use racing gasoline to insure the performance and life of the engine. However, at the customer’s request, we will build the motor to run on street gasoline at the cost of some lost performance at no additional expense. Simply let your PSR know during your initial telephone conversation that you wish to order the detuned L88.
